Hua Hin Korea Golf Club
About
A great location with wonderful views, but the condition of the course isn't up to par
Despite a fabulous location in the hills near Hua Hin, with great views over the ocean, and a design from renowned golf courses architect Robert McFarlane, a lack of investment means that the condition of Hua Hin Korea Golf Club (formerly Milford Golf Club) is not up to the standard of other the golf courses in Hua Hin.
The course is divided into two halves offering different challenges and terrain. One side of the courses meanders through rolling hills and you are surrounded by the mountains and the other part traverses the top of the hills with wonderful views over the ocean. Parts of the course have a definite links feeling due to the proximity of the ocean and because of the nature of the land there are large elevation changes and plenty of uneven lies.
The pick of the holes is the 15th, a par 4 with a challening tee shot that must thread its way between water on the left and the mountainside on the right. Most players will play short of the water and lay up from there but the big hitters might try to go for the green.
While short at just 6,614 yards from the back tees, this isn't an easy courses and many experienced locals have trouble matching their handicap. This is only partially down to the design of the course itself, with waterlogged bunkers, unkempt fairways and patchy greens presenting a less-than-welcome challenge. Despite not being in perfect condition, the greens are usually pretty fast, so you need to be on the right side of the pin to avoid taking on downhill puts which can prove almost impossible.
The clubhouse is acceptable with the usual facilities and the restaurant offers nice views over the course. Hua Hin Korea Golf Club is never crowded, so it's very easy to secure tee times and the green fees are exceptionally cheap. However, this is a course you should only include on your Hua Hin golf holiday if you're on a tight budget.
Reviews
Had a great time even though the condition is really bad .
Excellent layout , very challenging , horrible condition . With proper maintenance it can be one of the top courses in the area . I have played it when it was properly maintained and it is still one of my favorites . Use winter rules and it is playable ."A goat track!"
Suffering badly from a lack of water and only the putting surfaces were green and the fairways were all brown. Fun to watch the peacocks running all over the place. It could be a nice course but very poor maintenance. It’s cheap if you want to tune up your game.Course Info
