About

A mainstay of the Hua Hin region with an excellent layout and lots of water

Once rated the best course in Hua Hin but nowadays up against some pretty stiff competition for that title, the recently renovated Majestic Creek Country Club nonetheless remains a firm favourite amongst locals and expats alike who are drawn to its stunning mountainous location and excellent layout.

Course A (The Creek Course) starts off fairly straightforwardly with a medium-length par-4 through the trees before you face the first of the numerous water hazards on the course in the form of a stream that crosses in front of the second green.

The par-3 4th requires another carry over water as you try to avoid the bunker nestled at the front of the green, while the long, doglegging par-5 5th requires water carries both off the tee and on your approach to the green.

While there’s water in play again off the tee of the 9th, the bigger threat is the cleverly-positioned bunker that’s designed to prevent you trying to cut the corner of this dog-leg par 5.

Course B (The Lake Course) at Majestic Creek Country Club starts with a very intimidating tee shot over the lake to a wide landing area, but if you can go long off the tee you’ll enjoy a short, straightforward approach.

The 3rd is a pretty par-3 with one huge bunker in front and two more to the right of the green, and that’s followed up by a tough par 5 with well positioned bunkers preventing you from taking the tiger line.

Water comes back into play on the 5th if you hook your drive, while the severe dogleg par-4 that follows requires a tricky approach over water to a multi-tiered green. Your tee shot at the short par-3 8th must carry both water and sand before you get to the pick of the holes, the 571-yard par-5 9th.

A decent drive is required to be in position to cross the stream whilst avoiding the tree that sits in a bunker in the middle of the fairway. From there, it’s a nervy approach over water to find the sloping green, itself guarded font and back by sand. It’s a stunning end to the Lake Course.

The recently added Course C (The Waterfall Course) has proved a welcome addition to Majestic Creek Golf Club. The pretty par-3 2nd features yet another water carry, as does the doglegging par-4 4th, this time on your approach.

The signature hole is the par-3 5th, which features yet another tee shot over water as well as the waterfall from which the course takes its name. Of the closing holes, the 7th, a severe dog-leg left where it’s hard to resist cutting the corner over the lake to a narrow landing zone, is probably the pick. The longer, more conservative route is likely to yield the best result for most of us.

The course is generally kept in good condition, with the fairways firm enough to give good roll, yet 'fluffy' enough for your ball to sit up invitingly. The TifEagle greens are full of subtle breaks and can be difficult to master, adding to the overall difficulty of making birdies.

While carts are optional, the hilly terrain and long distances between tees mean it’s quite an effort to walk, but they allow you to share carts which makes for a enjoyably sociable experience.

The clubhouse has been extensively renovated and now offers everything you would expect, with equipment for hire from the well-stocked pro shop, elegant locker rooms and an open-air restaurant serving a full range of food and drinks. Putting green, chipping area and driving range are all available if you need to get in the groove before your round.

Great experience

The course itself was in good condition, great layout, very enjoyable. Service was not really inviting, seemed like the front and pro shop it was a chore to do their work, not making customers feel welcome. Bar and restaurant area great service. Just the whole club getting a bit tired looking. But was still a great course.

Course is in good condition, we enjoyed playing it. Clubhouse ffacilities are aged.

As above course was the best aspect. Buggies would benefit from ice container and GPS. Caddies were good.

This course is a long drive from central Hua Hin and there are many other courses closer that are more appealing

Greens on the back nine had a lot of sand on them whereas the front nine were clean and much faster.
