If you are staying in a hotel or resort in central Hua Hin, you do not have to travel far to enjoy a round of golf at Seapine Hua Hin.

This golf course is just 20 minutes from central Hua Hin and located next to Suan Son Pradiphat Beach.  As the name of the course and location suggests, Seapine Hua Hin is situated on the coast and some of the holes run alongside the beach.

Seapine Hua Hin is not a links course but gives the feel of a links course due to its location and the fact there are few trees.  You will find the odd palm tree around the 18 holes but you are never going to lose a ball in the trees on this golf course.

The course has a nice, open feel to it and the 18 holes can play very long from the back tees.  In fact, Seapine Hua Hin is 7,305 yards long from the back tees but a choice of four tee positions on each hole mean anyone can enjoy a good round of golf, regardless of ability.

The final three holes are considered by many to not only be the best run of holes on this golf course but of any golf course in Hua Hin.  It all starts with the 16th hole which is a dogleg par-5.  The fairway runs downhill but is narrow and requires an accurate shot off the tee to avoid the water on the right.  The approach shot is the toughest part of the hole and you must decide whether to hit the ball over the water and sand or take the safer route.

The 17th hole at Seapine Hua Hin also requires a tee shot over water to the green.  A beach bunker is used to protect the green at the front and back and when the wind picks up, this hole can be very challenging.  The peninsula green is undulating so be prepared for a tough putt if you are not close to the hole.

The final hole at Seapine Hua Hin is a par-4 and for those playing from the back tees, the shot needs to carry a canal which is crossing the fairway.  However, you also have the option to lay-up and try and take a par on this hole but the temptation is often too great with the driver.  It is an excellent finishing hole and one which causes much debate on the tee.

Off the course, Seapine Hua Hin has a modern clubhouse which overlooks the Gulf of Thailand.  There is a great variety of Thai food available and this can be eaten on the decking overlooking the golf course and ocean.

The course is close to the sea and was generally in good condition

The driving range is too far from the course and is not accessible with buggies. In the early morning some fairways were wet after the watering.

Sea Pines Golf Course

perfect golf course with very good caddies

Reviewed by ; on
We were able to tee off earlier without any problems. Since a very large group, 35 players played in front of us, we were able to go 10 from hole 2 and were then transported by the caddy master during longer transfers. Despite the great heat, the place is in very good condition, partly as soft as a carpet. Thanks and Play we soon.

Average condition - poor caddies & starting to look scruffy

Reviewed by ; on
The course is not being maintained properly and the wild "cow" grass is starting to encroach all over the fairways and will soon be unstoppable. The greens were dry and crusty and the balls do not roll smoothly. Overcrowded and slow with poor marshalling and we only managed to avoid a very slow round by switching to back nine and returning later to complete unplayed holes. Caddies were adequate but with a bit of an attitude. Showers in the changing rooms extremely slippery and dangerous.
