Avoid the crowds on this mountainous course which is an enjoyable challenge despite the average conditions
In the rolling hills north of Petchaburi you'll find Sawang Resort Golf Course, the perfect place to stop off for a round if you happen to be travelling between Bangkok and Hua Hin. Constant elevation changes provide an attractive layout where taking risks can reap great rewards, while generous fairways mean that it appeals to golfers of all abilities.
After a gentle start with the long, benign par-4 first, holes 2 to 5 of the South Course all feature water. The 2nd and 3rd both dogleg around a lake, making for a tricky approach unless you’re willing to flirt with danger. Sand provides the danger in later holes, with hard-to-avoid bunker in front of the 6th green and sand traps on all sides to the putting surface at the par-3 8th.
The West Course at Sawang Resort Golf Course is more scenic and more challenging, with only two holes mercifully free of water. The last three holes all require water carries, with the standout being the par-4 17th. Here you must find a narrow landing zone between fairway bunkers before taking on a nervy approach to a semi-island green. This hole is indicative of the variation that is characteristic of a round at Sawang Resort & Golf Course, where good club selection is key.
The North Course, opened in 2017, offers an additional nine if 18 holes aren't enough to satisfy your appetite. It’s not as challenging as the original 18, with water only an occasional threat, but there’s enough to keep you on your toes. Nevertheless, if you only have time for 18 holes, go for the East - South combination.
The course conditions are no more than average, with the odd bare patch marring proceedings. It might take the shine off your round very slightly, but as the course is off the usual tourist trail you won't spend too much time hanging around to hit your shots, which is always an important component of a satisfying round.

This is an Ok course although the maintenance is not great, and the greens are very slow. Course was pretty deserted when we played abut we had a good time, Ideal course if you want to play on way to or from Bangkok. Caddies were very good.Course Info
