The second set of nine holes on the A and B route is the Lakes Course. Again, the name of the golf course gives away what to expect and water features more prominently than the front nine. The 14^th hole is a real standout and the par-3 boasts a tee shot from a tee box on a small island to an island green.

Moving to the second 18-hole circuit and the first set of nine holes is called the Desert Course. However, many locals have taken to calling this course the Arizona Course in reference to the golf courses in the United States. Look our for the bunkers, rocks and cacti during a round on the Desert Course and enjoy what is a unique golfing experience in Hua Hin.

Finally, we come to the fourth set of nine holes and this is called the Links Course. This opened for play in 2006 and is played in a wide, open area. There are few trees in comparison to the other three sets of nine holes at Lake View Resort and Golf Club. It is the open spaces and lack of trees which may remind you of a links course as opposed to the playing surface and layout.

All four sets of nine holes make for a fantastic golfing experience and you should try each of them to get a good feel of the venue and the various challenges posed by each course.

As mentioned above, Lake View Resort and Golf Club has accommodation available with 70 standard rooms and 5 suites. Additional facilities include a swimming pool, tennis courts, squash court and pool tables. The restaurant has outdoor seating and you can sample one of the local dishes following a round of golf.

The course has potential but!

The course has potential, but it seems like everybody, from greenkeepers caddies and management has thrown in the towel? The greens were irregular, the rough and fairways needed to be cut and the bunkers were full of water. I rank it as the worst course out of five that we played this week.

Both courses could be much better

I have played both courses over many years. The proshop staff and starter provide very good service and most of the caddies are quite knowledgeable and helpful. However the condition of the courses can and should be much better than they are. There are times when the courses can be very good, but generally the fairway grasses are not very good. The lack of grass quality, depth and strength usually results in the ball finding the lowest point in the fairway. The ball does not sit up as it does on good grassed golf courses. The bunkers at times are ok, but the sand is often very heavy due to green watering and contour grooves means the lie is unpredictable. Uncaring golfers and some lazy caddies means they are not always raked. The greens can be quite good, but are often slow and bumpy and very frustrating to putt on. I feel that they need to have a fully qualified head greenkeeper to take care of the course and for some money to be invested to bring the course up to the good condition it is capable of being, as the layouts are quite good.

Course facilities are a little tired in places, but the course is in excellent condition. Caddies very knowledgeable and helpful.

The course is tired and needs work

The layout of the course is fabulous. But it looks like it is struggling as the clubhouse needs work and the greens were very bumpy and slow making putting very unpredictable and frustrating. Some of the caddies were good, and some didn't seem interested in helping. The course was very dry due to the lack of rain, which wasn't necessarily their fault. This was the third and last time we'll play there.
