Pineapple Valley Golf Club

Holes 18 | Par 72 | Length 6731 m / 7361 y | Type Parkland | Architect Pirapon Namatra

Hua Hin is fast becoming known as one of the top places for a golf holiday in Asia.  Located just a few hours away from Bangkok, this popular beach resort has become home to some of the best golf courses in the country.

One of which isPineapple Valley Golf Club.  Opened for play in 2008, Pineapple Valley Golf Club has established a very good reputation for golf in Thailand and was awarded Best New Course in Asia-Pacific by the readers of Asian Golf Monthly just a year after opening.

One glance at the course and it is easy to see why Pineapple Valley Golf Club is so highly regarded.  The 18-hole championship golf course was designed by Pirapon Namatra of Golf East, one of the great golf course designers Thailand.

While water does come into play, it is perhaps not as prominent at Pineapple Valley Golf Club as others throughout the country.  The views from the course are superb and the backdrop of mountains on one side is in contrast to the ocean views on the other side of the course.

Despite not featuring the abundance of water found on some of the other golf courses in Hua Hin, water hazards are present on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th holes.  This may seem like a lot but once you get beyond the 7th hole, water is not really a feature on the course.

That’s not to say Pineapple Valley Golf Club becomes an easy course after the 7th hole and there are many tricky holes to look out for on the back nine.  One of which is the short par-3, 15th hole.  This is the signature hole at Pineapple Valley Golf Club and the views to the left from the elevated tee box over the ocean is fantastic, with mountains and valleys off to the right.

The distance to the hole is short but you must know your distance well with each club as it can be deceiving.  The wind also plays a part on this hole and if it picks up when you are on the tee, it can lead to a very tricky shot.  The key is to try and focus on the shot but with the spectacular views surrounding the hole, even that can prove tough.

Each hole at presents a fresh challenge and the par-5, 12th hole presents a nice comparison to the 15th.  This hole plays to a massive 610 yards from the back tee and although the fairway is generous, there are several bunkers waiting to gobble up the ball.

Pineapple Valley Golf Club has a choice of four tee boxes on each hole, so if the 12th sounds too daunting, you can play from one of the other tees and this makes the course suitable for everyone.

In addition to the fabulous golf course, Banyan Golf Club is home to a stylish club house.  It comes complete with locker rooms, showers, pro-shop and terrace restaurant, the latter of which offers tasty cuisine and lovely views of the golf course and mountains.

Pineapple Valley Golf Club

Stunning Golf Course in Great Condition

Reviewed by ; on
Only issue we had was we teed off at our appointed time and Starter then allowed another 2 ball to jump in front of us to the second hole when we had already teed off on the first and the second is a par 3. This made absolutely no sense. They then held us up on every shot and hole and then to make it worse the starter seemingly allowed a single ball (very old guy and very slow) to jump between us and them on the 10th hole. He further held us up, not a marshall in site. I finally just asked him to let us through on 16. We were playing quick so usually I would accept that it is a fact of golf in Asia that you get stuck behind slower players but allowing someone to jump to the second hole when we have already teed off on the first made no sense and then allowing a single golfer to jump in on the 10th between 2x2 balls was even more ridiculous. Very bad course management by the Starter and this left a bad feeling. We teed off early morning as we needed to drive later to Bangkok for a flight so getting stuck twice, un-necessarily, behind slow players was frustrating on an otherwise brilliant course in remarkable condition for the rainy season.

Most definitely a must play course in Thailand

This is one of my favourites in Thailand. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 for the condition was a couple of greens and fairways look to be getting some repairs and greens just coming back from coring (that's what it looks like anyway). Caddies are always fun and on cue with reading the greens.

Pineapple Valley Golf Club

Course was in amazing condition given the lack on rain this year in the area. Played it twice during my stay.

Pineapple Valley (was Banyan) is a sensational golf course. Condition in July-24 was amazing. Together with Black Mountain, the best courses you can play in the Hua Hin area. Minor minor point - caddies are of mixed quality and you can't pre-book if you find a caddy you like.

The layout of the golf course was fantastic, the golf courses are planted with pineapple and arranged in a nice manner. The caddies were on the point on how you approach your shot. The facilities were one of the top notched in Hua Hin
