Bangkok golf courses

Golf enthusiasts are literally spoilt for choice when it comes golf courses in Bangkok, the majority of which offer superb facilities and fantastic value for money.  Many of the best Bangkok golf courses are comfortably reachable from the centre of the city, meaning that it's possible to be out on a different Bangkok golf course every morning, especially with the flexible tee times available in Bangkok.  For example, the Alpine Golf and Sports Club, the scene of Tiger Woods' 2000 Asian victory is just 60 minutes away from the centre of the city and is widely regarded as being one of the best golf courses in Bangkok.  These are the golf courses near Bangkok City Center and you can also see a details Map of Bangkok Golf Courses.

Best Golf Courses in Bangkok

If that is too far away from the centre of the city, there is no need to worry, the Alpine Golf and Sports Club is not the only top golf course in Bangkok.  There are many on a par with this course that are closer still and by reading through the following list, including the likes of the Bangkok Golf Club, Muang Kaew Golf Club, Navatanee Golf Course, Pinehurst Golf Club, Riverdale Golf Club, Summit Windmill Golf Club, Thana City Golf Club, The Royal Golf and Country Club and Windsor Park & Golf Club, it becomes apparent that golfers are spoilt for choice in Bangkok.  Despite the fact that these courses are within close proximity to the city, do not be fooled in to thinking that this could mean crowded tees and greens or disturbances from every day city life.  Many of these courses are tree lined and secluded meaning it's possible to take your pick from this fantastic range of Bangkok golf courses and enjoy a great round, in lovely playing conditions.  It's a  private memebers club and tough to get on by Amata Spring Country Club takes some beating.

However, if you are golfer who is willing to go that extra yard for your game, there are some other courses in Bangkok and the surrounding area that will be of interest to you.  For example, Royal Lakeside boasts it's own marina, meaning that it's possible to arrive in the perfect manner at the course by taking a boat from Bangkok.  The Vintage Club is another Bangkok course which is a little further out from the city itself but has played host to PGA events in the past and is well worth the extra effort and time to get to, as is Windsor Park Golf Club, again about an hour away from the city centre.

For those golfers who are looking for the ultimate experience in Bangkok golf, look no further than the following three courses.  The Royal Gems Golf Club is one of the top golf courses in Bangkok  while the Thai Country Club has previously played host to the 1997 Asian Honda Classic.  Both of these exclusive courses are superb and as a result tee times can be difficult to come by and that is why Golf Savers is here to help, gaining you access to all of these courses in Bangkok.

Finally, we have the Royal Gems Golf City, a course inspired by some of the very best and famous holes from around the world, including the Road Hole and the Postage Stamp from St Andrews and Troon respectively.  A very unique experience, Royal Gems Golf City is certainly a golf course not to miss.

Many of the Bangkok golf courses mentioned above come with excellent facilities, including excellent locker rooms and restaurants.  Royal Gems Golf City for example, boasts a luxurious locker room and classy restaurant, providing the perfect package for a fantastic day of golf.  The Thai Country Club is an other fine example of a golf course in Bangkok that offers a top of the range, complete golfing experience.  The caddies at the club are expertly trained and the clubhouse is often referred to as being the best in Asia and coupled with The Gallery restaurant, provides a perfect setting for a great day of golf.

If you have ever considered visiting Bangkok, it is the perfect place to turn an ordinary, tourist style holiday in to a golfing holiday.  A huge range of courses in Bangkok mean that there is something for everyone, ranging from public courses to those more exclusive, top end courses for the discerning golfer.  These are the golf courses which are close to the city centre.

Best Time To Play Golf In Bangkok

When you are planning a golf holiday to Bangkok you should consider the time of year that you go, although the weather is pretty golf friendly year-round in Thailand the wet and hot seasons could be a little uncomfortable for some golfers. The cool season, which present truly perfect conditions for golf is also the high season for the non-golf tourist industry which is big money and the cost of both the golf and accommodation rise due to this fact.

Rainy season may not sound like a particularly good time to plan your golf holiday, but it is not as bad as it may sound. Downpours occur on a daily basis but usually last for a short time only and the golf courses drain quickly, so a round of golf is not affected to badly. The benefit of travelling at this time of year is the reduced cost of your stay. The rain certainly would not stop you enjoying your time in Thailand.

Golf courses in and around Bangkok are best played during the week, when the courses are quiet and not full of locals. Weekend golf can be arranged in advance but the number of golfers on the courses can lead to long rounds.

If you decide to visit during the hot season it is highly recommended to play during the early hours of the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the hottest parts of the day. But this is not to say a round of golf cannot be enjoyed at any time of the day, even during the hottest hours.

Bangkok Golf Holidays & Package Tours

If you are looking at a more relaxing golf only holiday, then you should head to the high-quality golf resorts which provide everything on site. A great example would be Le Meridien Golf Resort, located a few minutes from the Suvarnabhumi International Airport the resort has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing golf holiday right on your doorstep. 223 rooms and suites are available, with balconies overlooking the peaceful setting of the golf course, leisure facilities and the holistic Explore Spa are all ready to help you unwind and enjoy the perfect holiday.

Bangkok Golf Club is one of the closest courses to the city and usually takes about 30 minutes.  Unfortunately it was badly damaged during the flooding in 2011 and as a result lost many of its mature trees and all of the greens had to be re-laid.  Although it’s quite a short course but there are plenty of challenges to keep most golfers happy.  The course is under new management so the service and maintenance have greatly improved.

Lakewood Country Club in Bangkok is one of the closest golf courses to downtown Bangkok.   The club is built on large expanse of open land and although the area is very flat the designer has managed to makes things interesting with extensive landscaping and earth moving and the result is very attractive.  It’s a 27-hole layout and each of the nines has a very distinctive character and depending on which combination you play it’s a very different experience.

Lakewood Links is the most recent golf course to open in Bangkok and we have not had a chance to play it yet - the course is still maturing and will take some time to be up to the standards of its sister course.  The almost total lack of trees leaves the course very exposed to the prevailing winds.  A very unusual links-style layout with two unique signature par 3s - one in the shape of a starfish and another in the shape of a crab.  The course is very flat an featureless with virtually no trees and it winds its way around the very large lake which dominates the layout.

There are only a handful of holes on the course where water does not come into play and on many holes water runs all the way along one side of the fairway, more often than not the left side, with bunkers guarding the opposite side.  If you have a tendency to hook the ball then you are in for a long day!  One of best golf courses in Bangkok.
