Batam Island which is actually one of the Indonesian islands of the Riau Archipelago is a very short ferry ride from Singapore and can be reached in less than 30 minutes from Singapore. Palm Springs Golf & Country Club is a very popular golf courses with three 9-holes courses called Resort, Palm & Island. You get great views from all around this course with lots of sloping fairways and water hazards to make life more complicated. The Palm Courses traverses close to the mangrove swamps and through natural forested areas. The Resort courses is more of the same but more hilly. The Island Course is probably the easiest of the three with wide fairways and forgiving greens. An attractive Balinese-style clubhouse overlooking the beach offer all the usual amenities.
Southlinks Country Club is a classic parkland course and the designer has been very sympathetic to the local topography and the course blends in very well with its natural surroundings. The courses is very popular with Japanese players and indeed was designed by Hisamitsu Ohnishi, a world famous golf course architect. Plenty of water around the courses with some challenging water carries but the courses has been cleverly designed to cater to golfers of all standards.
Indha Puri Golf Course is another course designed by a world-renowned golf courses designer and in this case it is none other than Ronald Fream. As you tee off beside the elevated clubhouse you get great views over the course as it runs beside the beach and then heads inland through attractive lakes and numerous bunkers.
Tering Bay Golf Course was designed by former world number one, Greg Norman and he has created a wonderful 18-hole, par 72 layout which is in immaculate condition and winds its way through the rolling hills, lush tropical vegetation and tranquil lakes.
