Black Mountain Golf Club

Holes 27 | Par 72 | Length 6903 m / 7549 y | Type Parkland | Architect Notlöv & Edfors

Hua Hin is a fantastic place for a golf holiday and there are several excellent golf courses to play.  One of which is Black Mountain Golf Club.  Having opened for play in 2007, Black Mountain Hua Hin continues to set very high standards for golf in Hua Hin and Thailand.

Designed by Phil Ryan, the course is just 30 minutes away from the beach resort of Hua Hin and is very easy to reach.  The 27-hole golf course has been split into three distinct sets of nine holes and you can combine any of the nine holes to make a fantastic 18-hole round of golf.

The host of the first European Tour event to be played in Thailand plus several Asian PGA Tour events, Black Mountain is popular among both players and fans.

Black Mountain is split into the East, North and West Course, with the East being the first set of nine holes created.  Many visitors tend to keep to the original 18 holes of golf which means combining the East and North Courses.

One of the many great things about playing at Black Mountain Golf Club is not only the tremendous conditioning of the course throughout the year but the choice of approach on many of the holes.  Players can choose from taking the safe option, which is suitable for beginner golfers to the most challenging route, which can lead to greater rewards but with bigger risk.

It’s this risk/reward feature which keeps many golfers coming back for more at Black Mountain.

The par-5, 6th hole in the East Course is a great example.  Long hitters on top form can go for the peninsula green in two shots and in doing so, set up the possibility for an eagle.  However, the fairway narrows considerably the further down the fairway you strike the ball and this can lead to danger in terms of sand and water.

The more casual player has the option of taking three shots to the green, which ensure the hazards are easier to negotiate.  You can expect similar scenarios throughout the course and this is what makes Black Mountain Golf Club great for players of all abilities.

Water players a significant role on the original 18 holes and the same can be said for the latest set of nine holes, the West Course.  This opened in 2016 and maintains the same high standards of the original course with some very large greens to negotiate.

The off-course facilities at Black Mountain are second to none and you will find a driving range and pro-shop.  However, the overall resort boasts extensive accommodation options, a water park, restaurant, gym, tennis courts and much more.

You could easily spend a few days at Black Mountain Golf Club enjoying the 27 holes of golf, accommodation and other activities.

Best, Must Play course - fantastic condition

Reviewed by ; on
We played here 3 times, twice East & North, once on East & West and loved it. East and North is the better combination, more scenic and mature, West is still fairly new but still has good tricky holes. The course was in excellent condition and is in a beautiful setting. A challenging but fair course with a lot of water on all 3, 9s, so very enjoyable to play. Greens very quick and hard to read. All the caddies we had were very knowledgeable, understood our game quickly and the clubs we should use, enjoyed their job, were interested in how were playing and good fun too. Most also recorded our scores and our stats. We also played Banyan twice but for me Black Mountain is by far the better course and better value. A must play course.

Varied fairways and fast greens

Reviewed by ; on
I've been on this course for the fourth time in recent years. It really is one of the most beautiful golf courses I know. Very varied fairways complemented by extremely fast greens make the course challenging. Some of the bunkers have a lot of sand and are difficult to play.. perfect

Amazing course with lack of service

Reviewed by ; on
As mentioned previously, Black Mountain is an amazing course and the caddies are great too. Unfortunately, all of this is always overshadowed with an attitude at the drop off area for bags. The person with the list really has an attitude problem and is extremely unorganized. I had to carry my own bag from the drop off area to find a caddy that was appointed to me. The first and last impressions are always important and black mountain fails at both of them. Nevertheless the course is a must play

In every way a very good golf course!

Black Mountain is the best course arround Hua Hin. in perfect condition with a lot of nice views. Greens unbelivable fast, too fast for average golfers with handicaps arround 15 to 20. But all in all a course we really can recomend.
