Hua Hin is a fantastic place for a golf holiday and there are several excellent golf courses to play.  One of which is Black Mountain Golf Club.  Having opened for play in 2007, Black Mountain Hua Hin continues to set very high standards for golf in Hua Hin and Thailand.

Designed by Phil Ryan, the course is just 30 minutes away from the beach resort of Hua Hin and is very easy to reach.  The 27-hole golf course has been split into three distinct sets of nine holes and you can combine any of the nine holes to make a fantastic 18-hole round of golf.

The host of the first European Tour event to be played in Thailand plus several Asian PGA Tour events, Black Mountain is popular among both players and fans.

Black Mountain is split into the East, North and West Course, with the East being the first set of nine holes created.  Many visitors tend to keep to the original 18 holes of golf which means combining the East and North Courses.

One of the many great things about playing at Black Mountain Golf Club is not only the tremendous conditioning of the course throughout the year but the choice of approach on many of the holes.  Players can choose from taking the safe option, which is suitable for beginner golfers to the most challenging route, which can lead to greater rewards but with bigger risk.

It’s this risk/reward feature which keeps many golfers coming back for more at Black Mountain.

The par-5, 6th hole in the East Course is a great example.  Long hitters on top form can go for the peninsula green in two shots and in doing so, set up the possibility for an eagle.  However, the fairway narrows considerably the further down the fairway you strike the ball and this can lead to danger in terms of sand and water.

The more casual player has the option of taking three shots to the green, which ensure the hazards are easier to negotiate.  You can expect similar scenarios throughout the course and this is what makes Black Mountain Golf Club great for players of all abilities.

Water players a significant role on the original 18 holes and the same can be said for the latest set of nine holes, the West Course.  This opened in 2016 and maintains the same high standards of the original course with some very large greens to negotiate.

The off-course facilities at Black Mountain are second to none and you will find a driving range and pro-shop.  However, the overall resort boasts extensive accommodation options, a water park, restaurant, gym, tennis courts and much more.

You could easily spend a few days at Black Mountain Golf Club enjoying the 27 holes of golf, accommodation and other activities.

Best course in Hua Hin

Had heard a lot of very positive things about Black Mountain so hopes were high and we were not disappointed. Course was presented in excellent condition and the greens were a fairly frightening 11 on the stimp meter.

Great day out playing Black Mountain again. Love the courrse and the service provided by all staff from start to finish

Course in excellent condition, the caddies are top class and the check in also excellent. Unfortunately, on the day I played, there was a two balls (both western guys) in front of me-one of the guys should not be allowed on the course as he was a very poor player e.g. By hole 2 (par 5) I was waiting to hit by wedge 3rd shot into the green while they were still messing about putting/chipping. Behind me on the fairway was the next flight waiting to hit the second shots. And on the tee box were 2 separate flights waiting to tee off!! By the time I got to the tee box for hole 3 (par 3) they had only just hit their first shot, but seeing my disgust, they let me through. No marshall anywhere to be seen to raise the slow pace of play sadly

Black Mountain Golf Club

A nice course that is rather expensive for what you get

Reviewed by ; on
The course itself at Black Mountain is an enjoyable golf course that is reasonably well maintained. The facilities are pretty much the same as the facilities you would encounter it almost any other golf course. They have a reasonably sized pro shop, restaurant, bar, and men's locker room. All of which were clean and tidy. So why then have an average rating? I will tell you. 1st of all there were the charges for the cart, rental clubs, and caddy. None of these was seriously out of line other than the cost of the cart, however, none of them were up to standard. The cart had no electronic range finder on it as do the carts at Banyan. The caddy that I had, while attentive and nice, wasn't as knowledgeable as, once again, the caddy that I had at Banyon. The same goes for the rental clubs. Finally, from the advertising I expected an exceptional experience as they think of themselves as number one course in the area. I had one rather simple request on checking in which was for a band aid due to a skin rip on the ring finger on my right hand, which needed to be covered for the game. Neither the pro shop nor the starter were able to accommodate this simple request, and I had to go to the Mini March to purchase Band-Aids. Granted, it was only about 50 cents for the 5 plasters that I purchased, but it was such a simple request and I was surprised that they were not able to, or willing to accommodate me. I did like the course, and would play it again if I had friends that wanted to play there. My preference however would be to go to Banyan
